1 . Start & stop systems By turning the key 1 click Fwd will activate the glow plugs or element automatically. And will put power to all the electrics andWarning lights on dash press LH button on dash to display Oil Press.Gauge wait for 3 beeps the next click will power the starter and start the motor. To stop the engine (after allowing Turbo to warm down) Turn key back to off which will shut down the motor

2.Indicators & hazard lights By turning the indicator switch to the right (down) an orange light will flash on the right front and rear and side with a green light on the dash. The same will happen when indicator is turned to the left (up n). This is to inform people your intentions. 4. Gauges Fuel shows level of diesel fuel in the tank. Oil Electronic display 1st or 2nd press LH button shows oil pressure while motor is working.(incl warning light) Temperature shows water temp in the motor. Tacho is the RPM(marks = 100RPM increments) of motor when idling or working and assist with gear changing[ideal = 1400/1600](max 1800/2000 rpm). Voltage (central display as Oil Press.) shows volts alternator is generating power to battery(+light). Air gauge has primary & secondary tanks showing bars of air (pressure 1bar = 1 atmosphere) in the tanks. (‘Low air light)Needed to operate all air gear. (brakes, clutch, gearrange, splitter.exh brake )Speedometer shows klms per hr the vehicle is travelling at, and the Odometer shows klms travelled.+tripmeter (2)

5.Footbrake By depressing the pedal towards the floor will slow the vehicle down and eventually to a stop.(Brake Lights) CHECK by: Move forward and apply brakes..

6.Park brake To apply park brake lift handle up and back. To release park brake lift ring up and allow to spring forward./down (Park brake Light) Demonstrate by moving forward or by lifting clutch to friction point

7. Clutch Depressing the clutch towards the floor will disengage the gearbox from the motor allowing gears to be changed {1/2 clutch:4 to 6cms} and allow vehicle to stop without stalling. Used to move vehicle forward or reverse. Clutch reservoir (at front) contains hydraulic oil and used in conjunction with air to operate clutch.

8.Trailer brake

Works the same as park brake and used when trailer is attached, Does not lock (Not to be used to park unit). (Tug test if Trailer)

9. Steering wheel.

The steering wheel is connected to a steering box which will turn the front wheels in direction required.

10.Gear changing mechanisms /Lever/( Range change) / red splitter button This gearbox is a constant-mesh 13 speed Roadranger,(Eaton Fuller) which requires doubling the clutch {double declutch}to effect smooth gear changes.(no Synchro c) The pattern is as follows:.(”Demonstrate.”) L(button down) 1 2 3 4(button up) 5 6 7 8 Also neutral and: red splitter 5 to 8 ..(1/2 Gear change)

11.Accelerator By depressing the accelerator towards the floor will increase the engine revs allowing the vehicle to move faster.(cancels Exhaust Brake if on) see also hand throttle.

12.Horn. Pressing the horn on S/wheel will operate an audible warning device.

13 . Heater/ Demister/Air Con 1 on/off Fan off-Auto- variable .. 2 recycled/fresh air – temp .. 3 Vent direction face/feet/demist / sleep (rear comptmnt ) Air con temp/warm air temp /fan /Direction/defog By adjusting the dials we can have air circulating throughout the cabin. Fuses can be located on LH side of dash to check if any electrical component is not working.

15.Exhaust Brake: flick switch forward to operate 1. exhaust brake 2. Engine(retarder) to slow vehicle, (won’t stop vehicle)(accelerator or clutch inactivates) Will not stop vehicle ..

16.window buttons to raise and lower windows Drivers = auto

17.Fog /Parking lights 18.Rear work light 18. ASR (wheel slip) 19 O/head interior light.20. Diff lock.
